Located in the San Joaquin valley, the
Port of Stockton is a 600 acre complex designed and equipped to load, unload,
and store all kinds of material including general cargo, container cargo, dry bulk,
and liquid bulk cargo.
For twenty years, Metro Ports has provided bulk loading services for sulphur, coal,
petroleum coke, ores and other products in the Port of Stockton - 80 miles up river
from San Francisco.
This 20-acre site includes 10 acres for expansion. Outside sulphur storage is located
on 5 acres, with the 40,000 ton capacity area contained by a 26-ft. high concrete
block wall. Two separate areas are dedicated to petroleum coke.
Receiving
Cargo is received to the terminal by rail cars and trucks. The rotary rail car dump
receives up to 2000 MTPH, capable of handling 84 cars, utilizing Metro's facility
for another 84 cars in unit trains. The truck dump receives at speeds up to 1000
MTPH. A separate petcoke receiving system works on a pneumatic system and mixes
petcoke with water to reduce fugitive dust.
Vessel Loading
Vessel loading is performed by the shiploader, capable of productions up to 3500
MTPH. One of Metro's customers constructed a state-of-the-art facility to connect
their adjacent sulphur plant to Metro's terminal conveyor system.
