Auto & RO-RO Operations
Metro Ports has a long history handling automobiles. Before the modern RO-RO ramps
of today’s PCTC’s (Pure Car/Truck Carriers), Metro employed the “old fashioned”
lift-on, lift-off method of discharge and loading. From the original “Beetle” to
the now forgotten name of “Datsun”, Metro was an early adapter.
With the usage of modern RO-RO carriers, Metro has handled over 600,000 autos importing
and exporting through west coast ports.
In addition, Metro Ports has experience in handling a variety of large rolling equipment
such as commercial vehicles, railcars, excavators, bulldozers, tractors, military
trucks, tanks, humvees, recreation vehicles, and prefabricated homes.
